The resistance of a coating film to the effects of rapid deformation and impact is a matter of great importance for many different coating products and uses. One of the most important applications for such coatings is the protection of building structures and equipment against the effect of impacts such as those from falling objects. For example, in some coating systems it may be important to maintain a certain level of resistance to rapid deformation to protect the coatings from mechanical damage from impacts.
